Environmentally-friendly equipment removes soot and smoke residue with less waste, greater safety and fewer manhours
On January 6, 2021, a four-alarm fire caused extensive damage to 7 Pines Tower, a 27-story apartment building in Yonkers, New York. According to the city's Deputy Fire Chief, Joseph Citrone, the fire "spread to the entire hallway, causing a blow torch effect" and "heavy smoke traveled throughout the entire building."
Rainbow International Restoration of Westchester was called in to renovate 22 apartments impacted by the blaze, rebuild 27 stairwells and hallways, and remove all traces of soot and smoke on the interior and exterior of the building.
To perform the smoke damage cleanup, the Rainbow team put its advanced LaserClean™ equipment to work. The system uses digital laser technology to separate dirt, residue and other impurities from a surface – making it an eco-friendly process that requires no chemical solvents, blast material, or large volumes of water or ice. As a result, the cleaning of the 7 Pines brick exterior was conducted in a way that was safe, timely, cost-effective and environmentally-sound.
In fact, despite the challenge of COVID-19 social and industrial restraints and a global supply chain crisis, Rainbow International Restoration of Westchester completed the overall project six months ahead of schedule, capping the effort with zero accidents and an on-site celebration attended by the mayor of Yonkers and the owners of 7 Pines Tower.
